Why Twin Screw Extruder Is The First Choice For The Feed Production?

First, we take the production of aquatic feed as an example, and separately distinguish the single-screw extruder and the twin-screw extruder according to the material and purpose of the expansion.

 7

Normally:

- Single screw extruder: suitable for processing various raw materials and common livestock and poultry compound feed.

- Double-screw extruder: The product requires a well-formed and beautiful appearance, a compound feed with a uniform ripening degree and adjustable density (aquatic material, pet food) and high value-added raw materials (ɑ starch, tissue protein), etc. The above division is not. For example, we recommend using a twin-screw to produce aquatic feed, but many companies currently use a single screw to produce aquafeed. There have been many articles about the two for aquaculture.

The difference in feed production, in short, the twin screw has the following advantages compared to the single screw:

1. The production rate is high, up to 98% or higher.

2. The granules are well formed and the granules are uniform. The twin-screw die-out pressure is very stable, ensuring consistent particle formation.

3. The unique strong pumping capacity of the twin screw ensures no back spray and blockage. After emphasizing the quality, the steam content in the material is high, and the single screw is prone to overflow and back spray in the feeding area, which causes the flow to be unstable and the twin screw does not cause a similar situation.

4. Continuous and stable production of various small particle products. When producing particles with a diameter of 2 mm or less, the single-screw working condition is unstable, the yield rate will drop sharply, and the material type will also deteriorate.

5. Density control is more stable and reliable. The material is more fully and evenly melted in the twin-screw barrel, which can control the production of floating water and submersible

Materials and slow products.

6. Wide adaptability to the formula, more suitable for high-energy formula production. The twin-screw can produce a high-energy formula with a fat content of 11 to 13% (up to 17% in foreign materials), while a single screw generally does not exceed 6 to 8%.

7. Easy to operate and stable production process.

Because of the many advantages of twin-screw compared to single-screw production of aquafeeds, we recommend that twin-screw extruders be preferred when producing such products. Of course, the investment and production cost of twin-screw is much higher than that of a single screw, and should be considered according to actual conditions.
