High-quality raw materials (fishmeal, cereals, vegetable proteins, etc.) are selected and ground according to the specific nutritional and particle size requirements of aquatic animals and various fish species.
The pellet quality of fish feed raw materials is a key factor in the production of high-quality pellets: the grinding step is therefore an important unit operation. The powder is then mixed with micro-ingredients such as vitamins, mineral premixes, and pre-treated before being fed directly to the fish feed extruder.
Next, the core of the process - extrusion cooking - is carried out in three stages in the fish feed machine: pre-treatment, extrusion cooking, and die texturing/forming. Twin-screw extrusion cooking uses its excellent mixing capabilities and parameter control such as shear, temperature, residence time to achieve the highest physical and nutritional standards. Adjustable screw speed, screw configuration, shear and temperature conditions are perfectly controlled through direct steam injection, exhaust devices and efficient barrel cooling; thereby optimizing the functional and nutritional properties of the pellets, such as bulk density, calibration, degree of cooking, optimal protein-lipid ratio, etc. The fish feed pellets can then be coated with oil and possible additives, and then cooled to complete the fish feed processing.
